dear list, I have an Asphodel-mail-order-related question that maybe someone can answer: When i tried to mail-order from their website it wasnt obvious to me that by going through their PayPal payment procedure the CDs would be sent by mail-order to Europe. I sent them an email but got no reply, which makes me a bit suspicious about hou consistent they are with handling their mail-orders. My question: has anyone ever mail-ordered from them? Everything fine? thanks manolis

IÂ´ve seen the Berlin concert too and for me it was the highlight of the festival. The "onkyos" Kevin Drumm and Axel Dorner were integrated in a free bop orchestra sound - well done Mr. Vandermark. Other good concerts were Irene Schweizer Solo and The Thing w/ Joe McPhee. A perfect festival conclusion was Spaceways Incorporated. Altogether John Corbett compiled the best Berlin festival in decades. Incus CDR releases

"Visitors Book" is on the website. There is a separate page on the Incus site where the cdrs are listed: http://www.incusrecords.force9.co.uk/sideline.htm You can get to it from the main page by clicking on "CD Catalog" menu, then selecting "A Sideline for the Store". I've got their first (only?) record. Pretty dang cool. The compositions have a lot of variation in styles and good transitions between them. Obviously, Territory bears a lot of resemblance to Vandermark 5, but there's a lot more space and weirdness in there. Dorner might be one of those you could include in the onkyo-improv category, but he's also not afraid to just get busy in a groovy free-bop fashion. Hey, in Italy is not forbidden, but is better to not open and look at it in a crowded bus, as I made when I bought the CD. I was very happy of my brand new CD ....until I look at the people in the Bus: they are ALL looking at me in a strange way. Arto Lindsay & Dave Douglas

The Dave Douglas interview is brilliant. I did an interview with him during the current tour with The New Quintet in Skopje, Macedonia. http://www.forum.com.mk/Arhiva/Forum114/fokus/fokus2.htm. It's a bit shorter than this but similar. His concert at Skopje's Jazz Festival was also great as well as Arto Lindsay's. Arto shared the bill with Moreno Veloso's band (the son of Caetano Veloso) that night and they jammed a few songs together unrehearsed. Brilliant. I might even post some pics from the concerts on this list. Best Nenad
