Anyone need a NEW copy of this 4CD set? # V/A - "Driftworks" UK 4CD Box Set (Big Cat: ABB1000CD) 1997 [Features exclusive full-length recordings by Thomas Köner ("Nuuk", 1995, which includes a _live_ "gong & electronics" piece), Paul Schütze ("Stateless", 1995, feat. This is part of a paper that I'm writing for a conference at the Experience Music Project next month. I'm pretty sure I mentioned this before on the Zorn list but just in case, here's some details: <http://www.furious.com/perfect/rockavantproject.html> Other than the particular artist collaborations and such that I mention there, I'm also interested in other ways these rock/avant convergences have been happening. It seems to me that this is fostered by certain record stores (including ones that people here have mentioned), magazines (i.e. The Wire), clubs, festivals, record labels and definitely mailing lists and other online communities like this one. Tower Records

It's amazing to me that Tower is closing all their stores in the U.K. I have been told that Tower extended themselves too much opening up stores all around the world. As a chain store, I thought the store was suffering in L.A. but the stores in London and Tokyo were pretty good. 'Good' for me is when I find something unique in their merchandise. The only thing that I find interesting strange enough is the Morricone section in the stores. In L.A. it seems Tower carries different stock than the others.
