A couple of months ago I saw the reunion of the Stooges - and I have to say that they were incredible. On a scale of ten, Iggy and band were a 20! They just focused on the first two albums (nothing from Raw Power) and it was just a powerful performance. I am not sure what the reasons are - it could be just me - but I am starting to really admire artists who are in their 50's and still doing knockout performances or recordings. On the pop/rock level I really like the last Bryan Ferry, Bowie, Dylan albums. The Stones, which I haven't enjoyed since their 60's recordings, is the one band that doesn't do it for me - but I haven't seen their recent shows. Iedere foto is getransformeerd tot een muzikale improvisatie. De beelden zijn partituren geworden waarvan de bijbehorende instructies uiteenlopend van karakter zijn. In muzikaal opzicht resulteert dit soms in delicate mantras, dan weer in samengebalde spanning of verpletterende geluidsmuren. In dit programma ligt de volgorde van de stukken niet van te voren vast. De herneming van een onderdeel van de muziek behoort tot de mogelijkheden, hetgeen steeds leidt tot een verschillend en nieuw resultaat. Collision Palace verdiept zich in de improvisatietalen van onder meer John Zorn, Fred Frith, Pauline Oliveros, Mischa Mengelberg en Nathan Fuhr en de genoteerde muziek van o.a. Any comments on "Dance of the Idiots" by Koby Israelit, on Tzadik? It looks pretty interesting, but I wasn't able to track down any soundsclips anywhere on the net.
