I like it a lot and it was (is?) available through Cadence (where I got mine). I also really like Ex Orkest's " Een Rondje Holland" (A Dutch Trip) which is the Ex as part of a 20 piece ensemble. It has a lot of the ICP crowd plus others such as Joost Buis, Jaap Blonk, and Michael Vatcher. A definite must if you have any interest in these musicians. It looks like the Ex is rereleasing a whole slew of old titles and and vergemusic.com is carrying them. Mark Feldman

hi, last weekend I saw a great show with Feldman/DeJoode/Vatcher, playing mostly free. Really intense with excellent communication between them. I had the feeling that a lot of the passages and phrases of Feldman were reminiscent of his Masada string trio contributions. I really had the feeling at some points that he was playing knwn phrases! So, I would like to raise a question and maybe people who have seen him more times and in different groupings might have a better insight: Has he been a big influence on the Masada pieces, marking them with his own style, or is it that the Masada string trio has influenced him so much that even in a relatively free setting he sounds close to it? manolis

Elephants again

Hi all, I saw a little link for a video on cnn.com, but you have to subscribe to actually see the video and no way am i paying for that. the blurb is: Elephants playing xylophones and drums? In Thailand, the pachyderm orchestra is set to release its second CD. I assume this is the Thai Elephant Orchestra, but the mulatta website had no info. Anyone know anything about this? It was one of my favorite discs of last year. rob

Hi! The Tibetan monks are very heavily sampled on "Execution Ground" by PainKiller, and I think also on "Elegy". They are also on some Beastie Boys CD. The instrumental one, I think. I always wondered were to get the original recording, which they all use. It sounds the same. That extremely deep voice.
