Hello, Boris did 3 tracks for the movie Voodoo Mounted By The Gods King's Dance, Egun Boogey and Joy Ride I was finally able to get a copy of the movie. With the help of Greg in France he was able to extract the video from the movie that contain the Boris tracks. Greg did a fantastic job on these videos. Editing and sound quality are excellent. THESE WILL ONLY BE UP FOR A SHORT TIME!!! Joy Ride is a simple short little scene. http://homepage.mac.com/jonathankamm/JoyRide.avi Egun Boogey is a wonderful video interpretation of the song. The video changes from black and white to color very cool and the native dance and drumming really add to Boris's track. http://homepage.mac.com/jonathankamm/EgunBoogey.avi King's Dance .....WOW! I was always a big fan of this Boris track but after seeing the video from the movie it has moved to #1. The thundering drums and slightly different film interpretation to the song then the soundtrack version is tremendous! http://homepage.mac.com/jonathankamm/KingsDance.avi Enjoy! -Jonathan

FANTASTICO! Nice work Greg, thanks to Jonathan, and The Big Sweet Move to Boris! Although I hate Voodoo, the tunes are matchy and marvelous. Terrific! --gcr
Oh ... My ... GAWD!!!!! That is so freakin awesome! I am so happy I managed to watch these while they are still posted! And they bring to mind so many things... First - thank y'all very very very profusely for posting that. Also I keep forgetting to ask. I am sure a few years ago I heard Yello on AfroPop Worldwide. Anybody ever hear that radio show any more? Can anybody confirm they played Yello? Next - last time I went to New Orleans (have family there - how cool is that) I took the Voo Doo tour of the quarter. They were talking about how it's not a cult, but the oldest religion on earth. I was totally into it until the ditso said something about having been a religion since Pangaea, and if I recall correctly people were not around then? And more - also kinda reminds me of The Believers with Martin Sheen. One of the truly scary all time movies in my book. Loved it when the spiders all came busting out of her big zit! And yet more - remember when Bill Cosby ditched Lisa Bonet for doing that topless voodoo dance? (what movie was that I forgot) I always thought that was stupid and these videos emphasize that the toplessesness was truly not gratuitous when portraying a voodoo dance.... Alright now I'm all fired up. House is on. Good night! :) -----Original Message----- From: yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Jon Kamm Sent: Monday, February 21, 2005 1:20 AM To: yello@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Yello] Voodoo Mounted By The Gods Video Hello, Boris did 3 tracks for the movie Voodoo Mounted By The Gods King's Dance, Egun Boogey and Joy Ride I was finally able to get a copy of the movie. Ontario (Canada) Law, it is legal for women to walk around topless if they want to. Something about equal rights, since men can walk around topless, some lawyer fought for it and won. So far, No Woman has wanted to. Just goes to show you, even if it is legal, ... Laurens van Graft The Grip Guy All your gymnastics grip needs right here! I finally 'STOLE' the time to watch these three video excerpts. Very nicely done! Notice that the dancers aren't the only ones in a trance, in fact, look closely at the drummers, and you will see that they appear to be more deeply in a trance than a lot of the dancers, especially their eyes! The cinematography is great, and the syncing with the music is great. It is unfortunate for many that will or have watched this, or even the full film, will not get too much out of it from a cultural perspective, as the general surface glance is not any different from a Massai tribal dance, or other dances from other cultures, even North American Indian (sic aboriginal). I have taken part in a small scale voodoo thing when I was in CUBA 20 years ago, and fortunately, as I was with my Mother at the time, she made sure that I did my research to fill in the historical and other 'ologicals of the whole thing. It is very interesting, and carries more impact when you know more, but we don't get any of the necessary info through the short clips, therefore, as a representation of the whole Voodoo Culture, they mean nothing, but as eye/ear candy, they are great! (cool images and YELLO[Boris at least] to boot) Thanks to all involved in getting these clips to my cranium. Laurens van Graft The Grip Guy All your gymnastics grip needs right here! Thanks to everybody carring about Yello in general and especially for those who have seen clips of MOUNTED BY THE GODS that Jon and I made for you... The first time Jon asked me if I could make some files for the community I was very happy to hear that somebody on earth (and especially someone I know) got this video. The rarity is real and the interest too. So we decided to share the precious thing to you. I know that Jon worked hard to have the tape and without him the dream would be still a dream and never come true like some other rare stuff he shared. I don't know where the community of the mailing list is going on and what they want to know more about Yello but I know that a lot of interesting topics here should be rare without Jon. I want to thanks Jon on this open letter for his gratitude and his trust. Long life to Yello. Long life to the community. GREG
