I noticed a painting hanging on Commander Straker's wall that bears a striking resemblance to the cover art for One Second by Ernst Gamper. Images of both are here: technologypimps.com/yello Anyone perhaps have any concept of a relation between the two, or is it just a coincidence? Even the colours are the same.... Great show, by the way. An observation of a few degrees of separation: Painting on Commander Straker's office wall bears a striking resemblance to, Cover art for One Second by Ernst Gamper, on a show called UFO which entails the exploits of S.H.A.D.O. [Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation], which is the title of a very nice CD by Pete Namlook [collaborating with the Higher Intelligence Agency], all of which tracks relate to the UFO series [intruder detector, secret location, space interceptors, skydiver, maintaining scan for ufo's], Who has also collaborated with Oliver Lieb Who has had his hands on Yello. Wheeeee. --gcr

The painting on the wall reminds me more of an episode of The Goodies, (a large pair of lips guarding a safe in the wall of a dental company office)! The resemblance is curious, however. How long ago was UFO made? (1970s?) Mark P. ----------------------<http://users.tpg.com.au/mrpulley/

Yes, 1969. Cheesy as Chuck E., yet way ahead of its time. So, it pre-dates the /release/ of One Second by more than a decade point five. Ernst Gamper's art - was it created specifically to be used for Yello's album art, or was it appropriated for it? --gcr
Since when was 'ART' compleately original anyway. it had to have been insoired by something, weather it be a visual, audio, psycological, metiphysical, ... therefore, Perhaps the Gumpster had seen that image, filed it deep in his psyche, then, when the planets were all aligned just so, the electron beam from the crab nebula was able to refract through the corona of N374, and reglected off the dark side of Moo, and reached him, thus triggering the neurons to move that paintbrush in a pattern that resembles a pair of lips.
