gcr, All I want is to provide Yello content and info to everyone. When I first got on the internet looking for Yello stuff, there was very little available. I thought there has to be someone out there that has stuff to offer but no. Then I found eBay, a treasure chest of Yello music , collectables , videos, posters ...ect. Six years ago the only Yello I had was 12 albums on CD that I had bought at record stores. Since then I have made contacts and friends all over the world, become proficient at computers and have bought, sold, traded everything I can find Yello. I have more Yello available to me now then I ever thought possible and I have been involved in 3 different sites that make this content available to others. Something I thought someone would of been doing 6-7 years ago when I first got on the net. I am trying to give to others what I thought was missing. I am not controlling anyone. There are Yello fans getting on the internet now like I did years ago looking for Yello content and they come across the sites and contact me and I help them in any way possible. I am sorry if you find my work controlling. I love constructive criticism and I take it well and I learn from my mistakes. But when you are criticized by only one individual who acts the way you have been acting you learn to disregard what they say. I do think you have a lot to offer. You have a great knowledge of computers, Your graphics you have shared with us are professional quality and you have a wonderful use of the language. Wouldn't it be better used in a positive way? Now take a look at my original post all I asked is that people check it out and tell me what they think. I never said "Lets all go over here." It does have some great benefits. If you don't like them its just as easy to remove yourself as it is to join.. , Later ------------------------------------------------------ original post: Everyone please check this out and let me know what you think. Should work like this list but be a little more up to date. http://groups.google.com/group/Yello-Fans

I've been a member of this list for, oh maybe 10 years now, I'll look up my early messages to let you know, but I remember when Jonas Warstad was a member of the list, then he went to set up his own, and *I* got into a bit of mudslinging, laying down the law, but it happened, Jonas set up his news list rather than sent his information to this list, but the discussion of items posted has appeared here so I don't think I've missed anything. (I never subscribed). Jon's right that we are *all* trying to share content, and I'm trying to provide stuff as well when I get the mechanics sorted, but these mailing lists are non binary, so I can see why the Forum has a place, and perhaps this new list too. This is like we all live in the same virtual street, I go along to gcr's house and say "have you heard this", gcr goes to Jon's house and shows him a video, no money is changing hands, we're being careful content doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Discussion here does go offtopic sometimes, but I value and consider everyones opinion and view, I learn from the on topic as well as the offtopic, and the banter about M$ vs. Apple is entertaining, because my preferred platform is neither! gcr and Jon are both very valuable content providers, and while I know I've had a little trouble getting some of it to work, other friends here on the list have helped me. I guess the key thing here is that people are making the effort to provide content, we doing this on our own time in the way we each know best, and while I may not agree that any one method is the best, I'm grateful for the time you *all* (yes you reading this) spend contributing, even if it is just an opinion. Or even if it is lurking and not giving an opinion. Peace! (I will now step down and stop preaching like a monk from another planet!) -- Regards, Nic. All I want is to provide Yello content and info to everyone. This becomes a problem, however, when you decide to issue said content in non-universally viewable formats. I am not the only one who has observed that your profferings, though kindly shared, have been mortally flawed in one way or another. If, as I have argued in the past repeatedly, you truly wanted to provide Yello content and info to EVERYONE, you would then be sure to use a format that EVERYONE CAN USE. You don't. You continue to issue content that is bleeding edge proprietary to your platform, to wit: H-264 mp4/quicktime. Where a universally viewable format exists [XviD or even DivX are undeniably the reigning kings of transmissible and useful content. Go to any BT site. Count the number of .MOVs vs. the number of xvid/divx AVIs], and where you refuse to use it, it calls into question the nature of the desires that drive your alleged benevolence.
When I first got on the internet looking for Yello stuff, there was very little available.
Fractionalisation seems like a problem to me. Do you really think it's best? Already you've created the forum, which does provide the availability of binary content. That plus this list plus the already extant Yahoo! list plus the already extant usenet group[s] seems already like more than enough. Why fork the data further? I question seriously whether you are impartial enough to act as moderator. That's where this list is excellent. Anyone can say anything they want. If it is objectionable, it is handled in-list. Your statment "11. a moderator that "IS" available." is very telling to me. You've started the list on Google Groups. Suddenly YOU are the moderator. Are the flippant responses from both you and your lap dog to my expressed concerns to be an indication of your moderating style? Also, I erred... somewhere I got the idea that you had said "Yahoo! Groups" instead of "Google Groups". Yahoo! Groups = super annoying. Google Groups = redundant to USENET. I believe one response within this thread came as an indicaton that access to Yahoo! Groups was forbidden by someone's Proxy server.
I do think you have a lot to offer. .... Wouldn't it be better used in a positive way? Yes. I agree. That failing has been mine. I have been conscious of it, which only exacerbates the error. I apologize for the harsh nature of my responses to many of your posts. I still disagree with you - that's unchanged, as well as the fact that I just don't like you - or at least the you that is presented here. But that's no excuse for the manner in which I have comported myself, or for the tone my posts have carried. And so, again, I apologize.

Perhaps as was stated in an earlier portion ot this vein/thread/ perticular discussion, what was it 6 years ago, he knew nothing about computers. Well, he as all of us are learning, but it takes some longer to master than others. Also, perhaps he is comfortable using a peerticular format. I say there's nothing wrong with that. For the benefit of those on the list that cannot directly access the posted content, there are the other members that gladly convert said content to allow others to enjoy. Thjis works, so why constantly BUCK the system, when you could better assist those that cannot read the H-264, or what-ever it is called, bt converting them and sharing in other formats? I can tell you, If I were better versed, and had the necessary equipment, I'd be happilly doing so, and not bitching about it, and I'm sure there are many others on the list that would (and do) too, without the whining.
