yello_xs-[first-ever-version].mp3 [2594816 bytes [with fixed tags]]- this file was on the FTP server all those eons ago. It's the same file that is being tossed around now. Here's the query - does anyone have the original source for this track? Does any such person have the ability and the desire to digitize the file and post it somehow, uncompressed? I am happy to torrent it if someone can get the raw file to me. Perhaps this and a few other very rare tracks could endure this same process - it just may hold us over until this Mighty Mega Box Set gets released, oh, frabjous day! Calloo! Callay! --gcr
I wuld love to, but I can't find the time yet, perhaps in a couple of weeks, months... anyone have any free time they could give me? T'was brillig one and all, I have the original 12" of "Yello - XS-[first-ever-version]" which I can digitize via my Linn Sondek (High Quality) turntable and even Flac it (Lossless Audio Codec). I'm even prepared to share it via my FTP server. However, I do neet to renew my stylus for optimum quality; currently looking for a quality replacement. I also have some of the other early 12".... Incidentally, I have an excellent condition copy of "Yello - Solid Pleasure" on LP for sale. Any takers? Pretty rare I think. Jabberwoc PS: I just checked, I ripped this track some time ago (along with a bunch of other 12" by Yello), I also still have the original .wav file which sounds fine. I'm prepared to share it however it suits the group. ----- Original Message ----- From: <organism@hydrophilus.com> To: "yello-list" <yello@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 09, 2005 8:39 PM Subject: [Yello] yello_xs-[first-ever-version]

FANTASTIC!!!! Your private ftp solution sounds fine, you are the offering party, you get to choose your venue, of course. I am more than happy to brunt the creation, posting, and seeding of torrents for each file. I suggested FLAC only because it is widely supported and immensely reduces filesize. THANK YOU for your fine offer! I look forward with great anticipation to your shares! Okay, enough with all the exclamation points already. Here's a list of the vinyl I have ripped: 37M yello_bimbo-[ralph-records-yl-8058-s] 169M yello_bostich_hardcore-techno-remixes-[ltd-ed-yellow-vinyl-ffrr-162-350-005-1] 91M yello_bostich-[stiff-records-tees-12-10] 234M yello_jungle-bill_the-andrew-weatherall-mixes-[mercury-records-mrxx-376] 253M yello_of-course-i'm-lying-[mercury-records-yello-312+yello-322] 87M yello_oh-yeah_[mercury-records-884-930-1---258817] 111M yello_shirley-bassey---the-rhythm-divine-[mercury-records-merx-253] 188M yello_the-race-[heat-1]_ltd-ed-dj-only-[mercury-records-pro-744-1] 130M yello_tied-up-[ltd-ed-promo-dj-only]-[mercury-records-pro-768-1] 207M yello_unbelievable-[theme-from-ford-fairlane]-[elektra-records-0-66611] 102M yello_ygsytae-12-inch-disco-mix-[stiff-records-tees-12-12] Filesized include FLACs only. I have been very busy and lazy, and have never stitched together and fixed up the scans I made. I can get off my arse and clean these up, TAR them, torrent them, and post them. If anyone's interested, that is, in any of these. I apologize in advance for the return of the abuse of the exclamation points... I AM SO STINKING EXCITED FOR THE RE-RELEASES!!!!!!!! Oh, how I hope that all these rare tracks will be included!!! In other news, the Cocteau Twins 4AD releases were all remastered and re-released back in 2003. No new tracks were released [well, the Cocteaus weren't a b-side / xtra track type of band], but the improvements were significant. Liking this trend! --gcr
