It's the principle of having to pay for what is essentially a job application as official remixer for Yello. In addition, having to pay to enter a competition is strange. I expect the competition winner to be used on an official single or somehow associated with Yello, so the question is - will the winner get his 14.99 back and also his share of the royalties? Or will Yello or their record company pocket all the income based on someone else's work?

The serious DJs will love this contest and jump at the chance to make a name for themselves. The amateurs will make excuses.

On the contrary, professional DJs and producers dont do things like this. They are hired by the record label, paid a good lump of money and dont normally have to compete to get the job.

Send a video to "Funniest Home Videos" it becomes their property but you have a chance of winning and getting notoriety. Its all fair. Great marketing tool.

Difference is, this is in the end not a funny thing to do on your spare time with your family, it is Yello getting a remix for nothing and also asking people to pay for nothing (if they dont win).
