Bostich Remix Tracks available now!
Wow! I'm hearing a bunch of whining going on. If you are serious about remixing and want to win a major contest and gain recognition. $14.99 is nothing to pay for something that is not available anywhere else. The serious DJs will love this contest and jump at the chance to make a name for themselves. The amateurs will make excuses. The tracks are worth $14.99 to me and I am not even going to get in the contest. As far as them having rights to your track that is not uncommon for contests like this. You are doing this for notoriety. Send a video to "Funniest Home Videos" it becomes their property but you have a chance of winning and getting notoriety. Its all fair. Great marketing tool. Too many of you expect everything for free. You have to earn what you get in life. If you want notoriety pay the price.
I’m still confused on how to purchase these WAV files for 14.99? On Oct 23, 2009, at 7:21 PM, Jon Kamm wrote:

Wow! I'm hearing a bunch of defending going on. Your opening argument is totally beside the point. It's the principle of having to pay for what is essentially a job application as official remixer for Yello. In addition, having to pay to enter a competition is strange. I expect the competition winner to be used on an official single or somehow associated with Yello, so the question is - will the winner get his 14.99 back and also his share of the royalties? Or will Yello or their record company pocket all the income based on someone else's work?

On the contrary, professional DJs and producers dont do things like this. They are hired by the record label, paid a good lump of money and dont normally have to compete to get the job.

Well then, I assume Yello will give the winning remix away for free, so there is no money involved, only notoriety?

Difference is, this is in the end not a funny thing to do on your spare time with your family, it is Yello getting a remix for nothing and also asking people to pay for nothing (if they dont win).
