I see. Ten minutes is a long delay for a TV station. Interesting.
Perhaps it is a sign of freedom. They can afford to delay if something important requires 10 mins more time. Juhana -- http://music.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/linux-graphics-dev for developers of open source graphics software
here's a question: Isn't there any way that digital recording devices for VIDEO, ie; TIVO, or a PVR (such as the one that I have http://www.scientificatlanta.com/consumers_new/CableBoxes/8000hd.htm ), to be able to capture an entire program even if it runs beyond schedule? Currently, they get a programming list that is updated daily from the cable television service provider (an inter-active programming guide that is very handy similar to those for satalite TV), but if a show starts late and or runs late, it still stops at the end of the scheduled time. is there not a way that the recording units could lock on to a carrier signal that is specific to each individual show, much like that VCR 5 digit code that makes setting your VCR to record much easier?? This is really annoying when you want to record something such as Formula One racing (I am a HUGE FAN!!), but often it runs late, and if I don't set the PVR to record whatever show comes on right after the race, on the same channel, I lose the "LAST TEN MINUTES", or however long it may have run over... There is such a system, at least here in Finland. The video recorder listens to signals from the TV broadcast, and knows when to stop recording. I don't have a TV anymore, so I don't know how it works in practice, or whether its used anymore. It depends on the broadcaster and your video equipment, if you can get it working. -- Jussi Salmi http://staff.cs.utu.fi/~jussalmi/
