They're actually recreations of songs in Russian that don't sound anything like the original.

The Lavamus.com site states it is licensed in Russia. Is the $1.5 in US dollars or Russian currency?
That's because all those albums are sold illegally.
Yea, *and* all the songs are in Russian.

They were joking. There are numerous sites like these, often based in Russia. Many say they are illegal, but legality is relative. There are special laws in Russia that allow them to sell, but possibly only to customers residing in Russia. International law is a bit vague, otherwise they would have been closed down long ago. But lawyers of course try their best. I personally find them useful when trying to find "impossible-to-find" music (deleted CDs, vinyl-only stuff, promo-only etc) but of course I do not recommend them instead of paying for a proper CD or legal MP3s. Another aspect is that most people in Russia can not afford to pay a full day's salary for an album (= Westersn price"), that's why Yello also made Eccentirx available there officially, to fight the bootleggers. /JW
