Or a combo package. Up the price 1 euro to offset manufacturing expenses. That would give consumers options, and also being fair about it. Releasing a DVD now and a BluRay in 12 months simply to cash in, is pure cynical marketing. But that's the music business for you.
Technology snowballs. The Blu-ray process in 6 months will be less expensive then it is now. The market will be bigger.
It is already a cheaper process than it was 2 years ago. The price wont come down much more, but the market will grow. Every authoring studio does BluRay now, so it's not a process cost anymore, it's a cost vs. market penetration issue. The problem with BR penetration is that BR is not a gigantic improvement over DVD, as DVD was over VHS. Millions of DVD users are satisfied with their collection, and dont want to upgrade or switch buying habits until BR comes down in price a lot.
