You wouldn't seriously consider WMV9 a better alternative would you ? MPEG isnt and never was a lossless format, meaning if you compress something with it, you loose actual data. WHAT is lost is determined by mathematical algorithms (same for Minidisk, same for CD to some extend). Johns videos have always provided me pleasure - no matter of they were not of studio quality. Because they have been explicitely designed to be used over the internet, i would not know what I would do ANY different. Its actually classes better than anything I have seen coming from windows codecs over the years... Instead of appreciating his efforts, some people continue to rattle about this and that. Particularly sadeing is the fact that its not real criticism, its personal. The efforts are not focused on making anything better, they are done to speak up. To get attention. Yet it was a simple game actually: You are offered things, now you decide if you accept or not. Done. You can't take the offer AND complain. During the time on this list, I have seen and heard so many truely great videos, mixes and texts! Anyway I hope he's continuing so his time permits For those having playback difficulties I might dare to suggest one or more of the following: - www.videolan.org --> player - search download.com for "Mplayer" ( i dont know if it finally runs on windows too, its linuix media player (also for mac)) - http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=77 (forum for mpg4/h.264 related topics) - if you wish to describe your difficulties, try to make it as technical as you can. "doesnt work" is not precisely enough for the techies ;-) hmm I just see.. the word "proprietary" is missing in the original mail *hrhr* Halowed are th... *slamm!* Now a nice yelloday everyone Mike Early civilization often mistook the unexplainable world around them to be magic. Rupert sheldrake in his book "seven experiments that could change the world" has stated that scientist’s attitude toward their experiments affect the results of their experiments. There is no such thing as a definite fact in science and therefore the irrationality of magic plays an important part in our rational world. yello -- beyond mirrors ************* On Oct 6, 2005, at 5:45 PM, organism@hydrophilus.com wrote:

I read this 2 or 3 times now and I´m not sure yet if I should be offended or if your trying to help me. Didn´t understand half of it.... If you are in some how ironic in this letter I must learn more english.
Not to worry, I am trying to provide information to you that might help you figure out why your computer refuses to render this video.
I also took the opportunity to remind certain parties that their holy compression algorhythm is deeply flawed, or, at least, so badly wielded that all but the last holy gift have obtrusive and obvious artifacts.
It can be no longer any question that iKamm's true underlying intent is to gently force, just like the Priors of the Ori, all "unbelievers" into following the one true path to enlightenemnt, and that it wholesale switch to his iReligion. Else, he would have heard the complaints issued and sought a better way to render his video captures.
However, I felt for the sake of fairness and strict honesty that it was necessary to state that there has been, at least from /my/ 'pewter's point of view, a marked improvement in the iMethod being employed, as this latest emission showed up /here/ without noticeable artifact.
This does not vindicate or validate iKamm's continued use of his holy codec, as is made clear by your and others' continued difficulty with same. It's not /your/ fault.
Plus, it pisses some people off, and that's entertainment that money cannot buy. Oh, no, now I've ruined it... they'll shut up now just to cut off my entertainment.... [voice of Droopy:] boo hoo!
The only thing I´m sure of is that it´s a reply on my frustration that I couldn´t see the video.
I share your frustration. Truly iDo.
