Hi all!
Some months ago I visited Jonas Warstad and read
some excerpts from his book. First of all,
it's not finished yet. He's been working hard to
make it as good as possible, and hopefully
it's been done soon. I only read excerpts, but got
an idea of what the whole book is going to
be.
The book is truly documentary. There's no author's
opinions or something, only very detailed
info of everything Yello have ever done. There is
very detailed info of every single, every
version, and all unreleased tracks. There's very
detailed info of every release, with exact
dates. Also there is quick info of DJs who did all
remixes. Every film and commercial where
the Yello music was used is mentioned, also with
dates. So I guess after the book has been
released, you will have no questions
left.
It's not divided into chapters. Instead, it
"flows", and is more like a book than
"encyclopedy", although it's really rerally
encyclopedic. There's only one separate chapter,
and this chapter is about Dieter. It's pretty
logical, since the main Yello man is Boris, so
the whole book is centred around him. You will find
biographical info about him at the very
beginning.
And, of course, there is something that will make
most of you particularly happy -- technical
details. Lots of!!! You will find exact (and
detailed, as usual) info about all Boris' equipment, and all changes of his
studio as time progressed. Also technical details aboutrecording process. Isn't
it the info some of you need the most??
There are lots of quotes there. Some quotes were
taken from Boris' and Dieter's interviews
from various music magazines. And many quotes are
unique because they're from exclusive
Boris' interviews taken by Jonas Warstad's himself.
Also there are quotes from interviews
with musicians, such as Marco Colombo, who worked
with Yello.
You will find lots of info about every album --
dates, how it was created, when it was
planned first etc. Afrer the info of the whole
album, there goes the info about all tracks -- track by track, all with Boris'
own comments, also about how it had been recorded, so you will get very clear
and detailed info. Perhaps the way of Jonas' writing is a bit too "dry" but it
was his intention to make a documentary, containing as much info as possible.
Even various releases of same albums are mentioned, including info about
different covers for different releases.
So if you want to know all about Yello, this book
will make you absolutely happy!
Cheers,
Adelka

"Hey! Hey! Come here! I'm here!" But suddenly body run by and fell down from the
