I finally 'STOLE' the time to watch these three video excerpts. Very nicely done! Notice that the dancers aren't the only ones in a trance, in fact, look closely at the drummers, and you will see that they appear to be more deeply in a trance than a lot of the dancers, especially their eyes! The cinematography is great, and the syncing with the music is great. It is unfortunate for many that will or have watched this, or even the full film, will not get too much out of it from a cultural perspective, as the general surface glance is not any different from a Massai tribal dance, or other dances from other cultures, even North American Indian (sic aboriginal). I have taken part in a small scale voodoo thing when I was in CUBA 20 years ago, and fortunately, as I was with my Mother at the time, she made sure that I did my research to fill in the historical and other 'ologicals of the whole thing. It is very interesting, and carries more impact when you know more, but we don't get any of the necessary info through the short clips, therefore, as a representation of the whole Voodoo Culture, they mean nothing, but as eye/ear candy, they are great! (cool images and YELLO[Boris at least] to boot) Thanks to all involved in getting these clips to my cranium. Laurens van Graft The Grip Guy All your gymnastics grip needs right here! Hello,
Boris did 3 tracks for the movie Voodoo Mounted By The Gods King's Dance, Egun Boogey and Joy Ride
I was finally able to get a copy of the movie. With the help of Greg in France he was able to extract the video from the movie that contain the Boris tracks. Greg did a fantastic job on these videos. Editing and sound quality are excellent.
THESE WILL ONLY BE UP FOR A SHORT TIME!!!
Joy Ride is a simple short little scene. http://homepage.mac.com/jonathankamm/JoyRide.avi
Egun Boogey is a wonderful video interpretation of the song. The video changes from black and white to color very cool and the native dance and drumming really add to Boris's track. http://homepage.mac.com/jonathankamm/EgunBoogey.avi
King's Dance .....WOW! I was always a big fan of this Boris track but after seeing the video from the movie it has moved to #1. The thundering drums and slightly different film interpretation to the song then the soundtrack version is tremendous! http://homepage.mac.com/jonathankamm/KingsDance.avi
Enjoy!
