It's absoluut very lame that they put those " free spaces" in the files. But still.. I'm going to have some fun with the files. I think it does't matter if it is mp3 or mp4 for the quality.
They dont "put" the spaces there, they are an inherit part of the MP3 format. Soundwise it may not matter if it's MP3 or MP4, but no professional or serious producers and DJs should work with MP3 files as source material for remixes like this. Again.... I think this contest is a bit.... unprofessional. Not that I blame Yello personally though. They probably have a pr firm hired to do these things.
