For me, Baby is the most immersing. I still love Stella for it's dark skies and booming caverns. Flag is another repeat customer to my ears - very dynamic. And then there's One Second, with its compelling storytelling. Really, it depends on what I've had for lunch and where in the world Carmen SanDiego is at the time. Is there a Yello tune that sucks? Like ABBA, there isn't a-one for me. It is truly a sadness that you find their recent offerings to be lacking. Perhaps the latest from Eminem will suit you better? Bitching here will get you nowhere, I assure you. And then aaj@centrum.is said something about:
as for me... zerba... The Geerk? Sorry, it was unavoidable.
There is a shade of Yello for everyone. They have integrity in that they are recognisable even through their morphings from one style to the next. It has always impressed me how they are able to swing the full range from blues to disco to hard-core stompytrance to ambient to thrash metal all on one album. Si Senor the Hairy Grill. Blue Green. The Swing. The [Everpresent] Rhythm Divine. Tool in Rose [not only a very beautiful, floaty piece, I confess to loving the obvious and blatant sexual metaphor]. Yello swings the gamut and does it with panache and inimitable style. They are maestros. Artists. Totally not Britney Spears. Long Live Yello. --gcr
