Boris is really in to using Ableton Live (http://www.ableton.com/) application for when he's starting a song. He throws all his samples in there and then manipulates them. After that he transfers the newly created loops in to Logic and goes from there.
Thanks for sharing this info. Anyone would know if Boris has always worked that way? After Zebra it has been easy to spot the looping technique, but how about One Second and earlier albums? The remix competition at summer 2004 had loops. I wonder if these loops were exactly the same what Boris himself inserted to Logic in creating Soul on Ice.
BTW2, Logic manual has become publically available: http://www.apple.com/support/logic/ Check at the right margin for a list of pdf documents.
Ableton manual is here: http://www.ableton.com/_common/downloads/pages/products/downloads/AbletonLiv... Keys 2004/1 magazine had Absynth sounds made by Boris. Has anyone spotted the sounds in Yello albums? Virus demo mp3 files have a few familiar sounds.
