This person who wrote this so called review must have some serious hatred for genius. Must be one of those musicians in the 80's who did not make it and is still holding a grudge against those with talent who did. If you notice there really was not much in the way of critique, just dislike: A PROFESSIONAL WRITER would go into the reasons for disliking it and also the details of engineering, mastering, sequencing, what studio it was done in, guest appearances,and other relevant layers of the process. This so called musical expert knows nothing of the material since Stella . . .objective? exhastive reasearch? professional? Not really just another little man with a chip on his sholder and a small penis. Well that just goes to show that even on the Yello list people's tastes can vary. Now that I've had my Eye for a month I happen to think it is one of the best albums Yello has produced. It harkens back to the days when you could "expect the unexpected" in each track, and each track is interesting and fresh. I like the entire album, though I could do without Junior B and Planet Dada Flamboyant. The only thing good about the last track is that it leaves me sad that the album is ending. I just finished listening to Motion Picture 1/2 hour ago (by coincidence) and I was thinking to myself just how bleak it sounded. Kind of like Boris and Dieter felt they had to release something, so they threw it together. I've never heard Pocket Universe :-( so I can't comment, although I'm curious to know who comes into Resistor (OK so I've heard one track or two) at about 5:40 and sings the "Dow chicka Dow" in the background. It sounds like a woman, but it could also be Billy. And I happen to like Jade Davies' singing in The Eye. She exhibits a range of styles in the tracks she's in and the style fits the song to a tee in most cases. I love Yello, but their "good" production is now below 50% over their career. I consider the good albums to be: Stella One Second Flag Pocket Universe Motion Picture The rest I can do without, but even Baby and Zebra shine in comparison to The Eye. Sorry I don't like the new one, really, I am, since I was expecting so much from it. But I will always buy the next one hoping for something even better. At least Yello doesn't do the same thing from album to album; it's just that I don't always like the surprise. Here's what it says regarding Dadaism in the World Book Encyclopedia: (in case anyone was wondering about Planet Dada Dadaism. In the years following World War I, many artists saw even Cubism as too tame and too rational for a world left in turmoil by the war's destruction. The movement called Dada was born in Zurich, Switzerland, though it later flourished in New York City and Paris. The Dada movement was an expression of irrationality directed at a world the Dadaists believed had lost all reason and concern for human values. Yet, through its self-imposed irrationality, Dada opened a new world of creative impulse. It developed guidelines that would encourage the use of chance occurrences and the conscious mind in creating art. Early members of the group included Jean Arp and Marcel Janco. Dada originated in 1916 in the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich. The members of the group selected the word randomly from a French dictionary. Early in its history, Dada was primarily a literary movement in which poetry was created from a random selection of words. To create a Dada work of art, Arp used a similar technique. He placed torn pieces of paper into a box, and after shaking the box, he allowed the scraps to spill out onto a sheet of paper. He then pasted the pieces down according to the pattern in which they fell. He allowed randomness and chance to dictate the final composition of the picture. Arp's German colleague Kurt Schwitters also adopted an unconventional approach to making art. Schwitters's work developed out of the Synthetic Cubism style, but he was even more aggressive in incorporating everyday objects into his works. Schwitters's Merz Drawing appears in the Collage article in the print version of World Book. Schwitters incorporated actual trash, including a button and a used envelope, in this composition. By using identifiable rubbish, Schwitters raised questions about the difference between art and nonart. Interesting that Dadaism started in Zurrich!!! On the cover of the vinyl copy of YGSYTAE the name Random Toxy is printed amongst the list of people's names that appear in the lyrics. Of course, if you guys have already Absynth2, then how about the following: How many different instruments there are? What are the names of the instruments? How about recording samples of each? Upload to the above place and I will make the samples available for us all -- for our remix project, for example. Can you take screenshots of the patch display and of the curve display? Of each instrument... a lot of work, specially if all oscillators or curves don't fit to display at the same time (try fit as many as can be; size does not matter).
