Rich - sorry I missed the observing - I havent checked this Email address for a while now, I had carpal and cubital tunnel surgery done to both arms recently so I have been down and out of the loop for a while. Are there any plans to brave the new moon in Nov.? As long as the snow doesn't fly? Is there any snow at the pit? -----Original Message----- From: uvaa-bounces+louis.griffin=hill.af.mil@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:uvaa-bounces+louis.griffin=hill.af.mil@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Richard Tenney Sent: Friday, October 15, 2004 12:23 PM To: Utah-Astronomy; UVAA Subject: [UVAA] Tonight at the gravel pit For those of you who are not headed to the Wedge tonight that want to do some observing closer to home, a few of us will be at the Gravel Pit (East of Park City) tonight (Friday). I haven't decided if I'm going up early evening or late night, but I plan to be up there into the early morning hours hunting early winter objects along with Lowell Lyon and a few others, so if you come early and nobody is there yet stick around and you'll have company sometime after midnight at least. And if Lou Griffin shows up (hint, hint), there will be at least two 20-inch dobs there ;o) Rich PS, you can find directions on the UVAA website: http://www.uvaa.org/sitedirections/GravelPit.html _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hey Lou, Sorry to hear about the surgery. You missed a good night of observing last month, however, I dropped my DSC's and they no longer work now, major bummer that it is! I don't have an extra $400 lying around at the moment to just go replace them. I heard (too late) some guys went out Friday night. Haven't heard any observing reports however. Apparently some good auroral activity last night, but by the time I found out about it it was overcast and gone. So typical of my life! I suspect the gravel pit may have some snow, but I'm not sure. I might be willing to brave a trip up there this winter. Keep in touch, Rich --- Griffin Louis A Civ OO-ALC/MAKGBA <Louis.Griffin@HILL.af.mil> wrote:
