Other places get better still as far as darker skys.
Early on the skys were maybe 5 - 6 out of 10. Later on they may have gotten 7/10. With SLC and Provo to the East and the Depot to the North it doesn't get much better than 7/10. Depending on where you live, the Gravel Pit could be closer and it does get darker skys.
David, wasn't that you who had the Zeiss microscope eyepieces?

This is what we saw. a bright object coming out of the West South West, crossing overhead and leaving to the North North West.
