Encourage anyone interested in joining the FB page. So far a couple more scope are coming tonight, mine and possibly Matthew Morrison. Could use a few more volunteers to help John Craig with his event. Even if you can stay for a while. Skies will be beautiful! Kathy Terry UVAC1KT@gmail.com

Hi Folks,
It's a scary date, but we're going to try to do it--I hope there's fewer high clouds than tonight.
Come if you care to. We'll be delighted to have as many as are available.
There's a fairly good place to set up east of the school on the track (which seems to be asphalt and is nice and level). It's about as away from the glare from the lights that are on the school itself as we can get and although it's not as far from the parking lot as would be ideal, given the phase of the moon, it should be okay. The parking lot (behind the school, just east of the building) is right on the south side of the intersection of 300 W and 900 S. There's construction on 400 W (which the school faces) so the best way to get there is via 800 S and 300 W (300 W is not a through street--it T's on 800 and 900 S).
I'll be there a bit before 8 (we can show people the moon while the sky darkens enough to see other things).
John Craig

Hi Lynn,
Thanks for the offer! I'm awaiting final confirmation on a star party at Lakeridge Junior High in Orem on Friday night. We'll see what they say.
I'm not sure what their reluctance is, but if they don't want it, I guess we won't do it....

I would be very, VERY interested in hosting a star party at my school in
Highland, but not until this fall. Please let me know if that's a possibility. In the fall we'll have about 180 sixth graders who will be studying planets, constellations, and moon. We'd invite all of them with their parents. Shannon Moedl, Freedom Elementary ( smoedl@alpinedistrict.org or 801 610-8707 x216)

Would anyone else be interested in trying to get something going for maybe a first-quarter weekend star party on a regular basis over the warmer months? I think if we had 3 or 4 people willing to participate, we'd have enough people to deal with the inevitable vacation absences and such. Let me know if it might be of interest and if you have suggestions for where we could do it.
Also, there's a tentative plan for a school star party at Lakeridge Junior High in Orem on the 13th. I'll let you know as plans develop (or fizzle). Lakeridge is on the SE corner of 900 S& 400 W. I haven't scouted out to figure out where the best place to be is, so if it's going to happen, I'll go check lighting and try to pick a good spot.
John Craig
