At 5:30 this morning while passing through Cedar Fort I caught a slender section of an orange moon just rising over the mountains with the eastern sky beginning to brighten. At 6:25 when I dropped my wife off at her work area on Dugway Proving Ground the moon was a good 15 degrees or more above the horizon, a beautiful light yellow color in a sea of baby blue. By the time I got to my work area at 6:45 the sky had brightened and the slender section of the once striking moon had faded in contrast with the morning dawn. Tomorrow morning it will be a lot thinner and a lot more difficult to see.
