David, It could have been quite a bit better. That is not the darkest site, there were a few clouds, and the temps got a bit lower than I like. Over all I think it was a very good party, and I am glad that so many people showed up! We got to see the moons transiting Jupiter, good views of Saturn, the usual M42, M51, M81-82, M44 was naked eye. We also looked up NGC 2281, which is a pretty little star cluster, and many other objects. Not bad for having so many people using our scope and holding a baby the whole evening. I think it was a great success! I look forward to going out again soon and doing some workshops with JimG so that the beginners in the area can learn the basics. I would like even better to find a "truly" dark site! A question to all that went on Saturday, what would you rate Saturday night's condition? It was my first official star party, so I was curious if the viewing that night were as good as it gets or if they can be better. Thanks --- Jim Gibson <jimgibson00@yahoo.com> wrote:
Those who were at the Pit'nPole on saturday night and wondered if the bright object passing overhead was the Space Station, it most likely was.

This is what we saw. a bright object coming out of the West South West, crossing overhead and leaving to the North North West.
