Hello everyone: I hope that you all look at the SLAS website at www.slas.us to keep up with what's going on with the club's upcoming events. The Bryce Canyon Star Party is fast approaching and I hope that all will come that are able. Also upcoming is the new member weekend event know as SLAStrofest. This is designed to be a member only event for those new to astronomy and want to get off to a great start. I am doing a separate SLAS Blast to members only with all the particulars. The June meeting will be a discussion with hands-on demonstrations about spectroscopy and diffraction gratings by Associate Professor of Astronomy & Physics at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Brent A. Sorensen. Brent has been a personal friend of mine for many years and I am excited that he is able to come up to Salt Lake and talk with us. Brent was also one of the speakers at ALcon 2002 at the University of Utah. He loves to observe near Cedar Breaks National Monument with his huge 24" scope mounted on a trailer that is truly a sight to behold. Please plan to attend the meeting on Tuesday, June 27th. The meeting will be at the Salt Lake County Government Center located at 2001 S. State Street. We will be meeting in the north building where the County Council meets. There is plenty of free parking in the covered terrace to the east of the building. See you there!!! Lowell Lyon, 2006 SLAS Prez
