Ditto the Telrad, for me it is so much easier to use than a finder scope a definite must have. Dottie, A good choice for a serious beginner scope; 6" f/8 is a classic, and should yield great views. I would recommend you get a telrad type finder for it as well as the 6x30 that comes with the scope. It's another $35-45 but well worth it in terms of ease of use and mitigating frustration finding faint objects. Before you run out and buy one however, my neighbor was telling me he wanted to sell their scope (it may belong to his wife actually), and I think it may be the same or a similar model. stolen eyepieces alert...

Last night, I took my telescope out to look at the stars with some visiting friends, only to discover that the meade hard case containing all of my lenses had been stolen from my garage!! (along with several tools). It's been a month since last used my scope, so it must have happened during the past 30 days, probably between Oct 29 adn Nov 12 when I was overseas on business. I doubt that the average thief would have much use for a set of astronomy lenses, so I suppose he/she will attempt to sell them. If anyone comes across a complete set of Meade Plossell (yellow letters) lenses + a second 26 mm and 9 mm (blue letters) lenses for sell in an ad or pawn shop, let me know. One of the lenses has a very obvious flaw visible when looking through the scope, so it won't be too hard to identify if it turns up. Thanks, Darren

Hi Everyone! We want to buy a telescope for our 15 year old daughter for Christmas. We've already been through two of the cheaper ones and were very unhappy with both of them. I'd like to get some opinions on one we're considering. We don't want to waste our money again on something she won't enjoy.
