My Asteroids multi kit arrives today
And I could not be happier, unless it shipped in a solid gold box. The fun part is going to be building an external thruster for Lunar Lander. I know there are guys out there working on a commercially viable solution, and I am sure they will be great. I am trying to put something together that has a small-ish footprint, and doesn't require drilling holes or ugly CP art. I even have a digital solution worked up, rather than using a pot and an ADC, but it might not add any value, beside costing more. :-) Chris W, looks like I might be meeting you at Nickle-mania to have you burn any updates in the next month or so! Thanks again for your generous offer of assistance. BTW, anyone seen Kurt M. in a while? Kurt, you out there? --Sean McLachlan

How about getting one of the RAM controls units and putting it in an external case until someone comes up with a replacement control panel? Though Lunar Lander is not the same without the panel lights. http://www.ram-controls.com/order-ll.html

Saw him a while back at a restaurant but he was busy. I did not want to bother him, but I've been planning to bug him for lunch. I miss the UTVGG get-togethers. My life is kinda sucky lately. -Chris

I'm alive! Busy -- for the last 2 years I've worked for FusionIO (www.fusionio.com) as the eng lead/manager/whatever for the embedded hardware group.

Me too! (to both). We should contemplate another lunch -- especially if ChrisH is moving to town.
Well. I still haven't heard back from them. Utah is a hard job market to crack. Been trying to relocate for way too long :I. Maybe I could seek up in a month or two On Mar 28, 2011 11:49 AM, "Kurt Mahan" <kmahan@xmission.com> wrote:

DO NOT BUY FROM RAM CONTROLLS!!!! He has ripped people on KLOV off for a verified $30K, look there for the thread, it's stickied on every forum I think. Serious, he took a lot of money and shipped very little product. --Sean McLachlan -----Original Message----- From: utvgg-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utvgg-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Christopher B Strong Sent: Monday, March 28, 2011 11:30 AM To: utvgg@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [UtVgG] My Asteroids multi kit arrives today

They are not available yet. The kit I am getting is a beta unit. Well, the hardware isn't going to change but the software is still subject to revision. As I understand some things like a more robust test mode have been added but may still have a kink or 2. http://www.brasington.org/arcade/products/adl/status.shtml is the website of the guy producing it, and you will be able to order them there when the kit is released. My guess would be in the next 3 -6 months or so. Hopefully sooner, but you never know. Some kits were released 2 years ago as beta, but then the project stalled again. That's why I am excited to get this kit in my hot little hands, since it has such a long and storied development. --Sean McLachlan -----Original Message-----
Are the multi kits still available?

This must be why he sent the product first to me, then billed me. He shipped mine next-day-air with a bill in the box. My parts were great. Don't doubt that others had problems, just my experience. -Chris
Hi Chris! Sorry to hear about the "sucky life". Health related, I assume. Whatever it is, I wish you better fortune for tommow. How long ago did you buy? The story goes that roughly 1 year ago he posted up some really great stuff, and the first batch of people couldn't sing his praises loud enough. Then he dropped off the face of the earth, and kept a lot of money. There is a current legal action against him, and about a month ago he popped back up and apologized and said he would make everything right, but to date no one has received any parts or refunds. It's sad, because he has several items I could really use. And I looked at the current "I got robbed total" and it's $24K, so I was a bit high before. My number was high, not me. :-) --Sean McLachlan
