An issue with my recent wedding is that the first question from practically all of my friends was "is she going to let you keep those games"--or more-frequently--"she won't let you keep those games!". My poor fiancee had to keep dealing with me double-checking every time some friend of mine (or ours) put me in doubt that I had not misunderstood the deal. Well, I was quite surprised at my wedding when my inlaws presented me with a Missile Command machine they knew I wanted. Like nearly all arcade games I own, it has come into my life needing repair. But, the real surprise was at the wedding. At southern weddings (and it seems to be a growing nationwide trend), there is often a second "groom's cake" that can be made of chocolate in addition to the main white wedding cake. Well, the wedding cake was covered with amazing sugar flowers made by a friend of ours in Australia; we had agreed to no cake toppers, as I find them silly. But the "grooms cake" was covered, I had not been allowed to know anything about it. The cover was removed just before we cut the cake to reveal this little fellow, also made by our friend in Australia. The ring he holds is a copy of the engagement ring. I was very impressed. I figure people on this mailing list would appreciate it. http://www.cs.utah.edu/~strong/cake_topper -Chris

Wow, super cool, Chris. Your Aussie friend has real talent. And I've always found that when someone asks me, "Your wife lets you have all those games?" it is an indication of the the state of their relationship. I usually reply, "Yes, in the same way I 'let' her have couches and coffe tables and knick knacks." Sometimes it registers with them, sometimes it doesn't. When it does, it's like watching a balloon deflate. Congrats again on the nueva esposa. You can drop out of the hobby for a maximum of one year to take care of newly wed stuff, then you gotta get fixing that Missile Command. -- Sean McLachlan Christopher B Strong wrote:

Peter Packrat on the groom's cake AND a Missile Command!?!? That is one impressive dowry Chris. I think you've got a keeper there. Is it the cockpit? :-)
