I guess maybe the peak I experienced in selling Atari stuff was just for the common items. People had a lot of disposable income in the late 90s from the dotcom boom, and I was able to make some money by selling stuff on ebay that I could get at DI for $2 or $3. More recently, it just hasn't been worth the time and I still have a ton of stuff in my basement that I need to go through someday. I did find some less common stuff at DI that I've hung on to. I also bought a couple of rarer carts on ebay, thinking I'd be able to make a profit later. Turned out I had already missed the peak. Wow, that's the sort of thing I've had dreams about finding at DI. :)
Well, you'll never find a 2700 at DI. You might have found one at WeirdStuff in 1985 or the late 1990s..
I'm guessing 10 years go this stuff would have gone for even more.
Ten years ago? No. The peak was probably 2005 or so. I remember in 1998, thinking there was no way I would pay $25-$35 for a lab cartridge.
That's true, now! You'll almost never see one under $100.
