Just an additional note -- if you're planning on doing much monitor work (in my mind 1 monitor is "much") it doesn't hurt to get a HV meter or probe. The one I have is a probe that just plugs into my Fluke. While sticking a tool (like what Chris describes below) under the cap a couple of times works it's nice to look at the meter and see "0.00". (or see the meter counting down as the voltage bleeds off). Also nice for adjusting the high voltage once you've got it all back together.
Good advice. I totally agree...you can also build your own. But I would spend the extra cash and buy one. They have a sharp tip, so I use the blade of my discharge screwdriver to pry up the anode cap. -Chris
