That Santa Cruz arcade still has a Star Wars and EDOT on location, doesn't it?
San Francisco is my old stomping grounds
I have not been to it since it moved to Pier 39 but visited shortly
before it made the move to Pier 39 in 2005. It used to be located in the
basement of the Cliff House Restaurant. The focus of the Musee
Mechanique is mainly EM (Electro Mechanical)with target practice, peep
show stereo-scopes (think late victorian 3-D pr0n, and photos of the SF
earthquake in 1906), and fortune telling machines. There were a few
arcade games (nothing uber rare) I remember playing Star Wars and a
couple of other games.
If you have some time to burn I would check it out. In fact on my next
trip I'll have to check out the new digs too. Also if you are looking
for a real old school seedy arcade experiece in SF there is the Broadway
Arcade. The place hasn't changed a bit from the 80's heyday lots of
classics and pins. It's located near the corner of Broadway and Columbus
right on the border of Chinatown and North Beach (Little Italy). 447
Broadway SF.
There is a large arcade at the Metreon downtown but I wasn't that
impressed, a few classics but mostly hundreds of JAMMA conversions in
large wall mounted machines that looked like they came from a Borg Cube.
I have not been there since it closed and reopened as TILT last May.
About an hour south is Santa Cruz that has a great arcade... OK I'll
stop now...
