I didn't go, but I had press passes. I really, really, really, dislike Tommy Tallarico (the guy over VGL), so I tend to steer clear of anything he gets his hand into. I'm sure it was good and fun, but I can't help but think mean things when I see the guy. We've had it out in public a couple of times, actually. The story is long, but just know that he's a total self-serving jerk.
That piano kid is awesome though, I've met him down at E3 and he's truly amazing.
I went on Sat. night, and it was OK. Console heavy, but there was
enough coin op/NES to make it interesting. No mention of the 2600, but
I guess when most games didn't have any music for that platform, you
have to understand why.
There was a ton of game music that I had never even played the game
from, like Final Fantasy, and WoW. The MC (Missile Command? No, Master
of Ceremonies) was some guy who worked composing music for games, and
the last couple of songs he pulled out a guitar and played along. He
pranced around the stage like he was a rockstar, but it really just made
him look like a doofus.
Biggest hit of the night was some guy who played the SMB music on the
piano while blindfolded . D00d had l33t skilz.
Anyone else go?
