In the Wasatch, there's a spot near you called the "Gravel Pit". It's in Brown's Canyon, toward Peoa. It's basically a 3-season spot, and there are a number of us who'll run up there several times a season. In the Uintas, there's Wolf Creek Pass which is dependably open only in summer. I also like a spot called Lone Rock, in Skull Valley, about 40 miles west of SLC. It's spring and fall only. You'll find maps for many spots on the SLAS website (www.slas.us). In the winter, I'll just go out in my yard and hope the neighbor's power goes off ;-)
Well, I'll have to keep an eye on the weather for this evening. Do you have a favorite observing point in the Wasatch or Uintas?
