Any local folks in Australia today for the eclipse? Space.com will carry a couple of live feeds beginning before lunch, our time, IIRC.
50% cloud cover at the site of the live SLOOH feed. And they are having trouble loading the "live" telescopic images. Grrrr...
Well, I'm really disappointed in SLOOH. When it was all said and done, they only posted 2 images of the partial phases, nothing at all of totality even though an opportune break in the clouds at their location would have allowed well over a minute of totality coverage. They ended-up posting partial phases from New Zealand, and a really good feed from Panasonic that saved the day for them. They had a total tech meltdown on the beach in Australia, and blamed the spotty cell coverage for it, even though they spoke a few times about their imaging guy having to relaunch his computer more than once. Funny that the talking heads on the beach at the same location never lost coverage. Pfft. I managed 2 screenshots of totality, including one of the "diamond ring". I hope that anyone who pays them to use their telescopes remotely doesn't suffer a similar fate. Bad press today, bad luck for SLOOH. Live Internet feeds still have a long way to go, IMO.
Thanks for keeping the list updated. I would have forgotten to look online but for your emails. I did see these photo posted by SLOOH http://pinterest.com/slooh/slooh-space-camera-snaps/ Thanks Dion ________________________________ From: Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2012 5:44 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Today's Solar Eclipse Well, I'm really disappointed in SLOOH.
