"The Martian" by Andy Weir
I checked amazon.com for some best seller books and I saw this book called "The Martian" by Andy Weir. Has anybody read it. It looks kind of interesting. It is a story about astronauts landing on Mars. It may be a fun read. Debbie
Funny you should post this today, Debbie. Just last night we watched "John Carter" (not as bad as the critics said it was) and the day before I was thinking about "Robinson Crusoe on Mars" (with Adam West!). And I noticed some Mars DVD with Val Kilmer in the closet, that I've not bothered to watch before. I guess with Mars fast approaching (or I guess we are approaching Mars), it's the season for all things Martian. Time to dust-off the Bradbury. Just remember, on August 27th Mars will appear as big as the full Moon. I mat as well start the rumor early. On Tue, Mar 4, 2014 at 8:57 AM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

I just put a hold on the book at the local library. I will get back to you when I get it and read it. I'm number 4 in the queue so it shouln't be too long. I want to read something different and this looks kind of fun. The library also has the Ray Bradbury books as well. Chuck, have you read any of the Ray Bradbury stuff? Still waiting for clear skies with galaxy season approaching, Debbie On Tue, Mar 4, 2014 at 8:57 AM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

Debbie, I read about everything Bradbury wrote, as long as 45 years ago. One of my favorite authors of the genre. I much preferred his take on Mars to say, Heinlein. Heinlein's books usually came off as being more for a juvenile audience, in my opinion. On Tue, Mar 4, 2014 at 12:20 PM, Debbie <astrodeb@beyondbb.com> wrote:

There's also Jeff Wayne's famous Rock Opera version of "The War of The Worlds" (with Richard Burton, no less!), and the WotW movies (I like the original George Pal 1953 version best) as well as Verne's original novel (which the rock opera closely follows).
Reminder: The new Cosmos series premiers this Sunday, the 9th, on Fox at 8 pm MDT. Don't miss it because of the switch back to daylight savings time the evening before.
I'm going to record it and watch it later. 8 PM is bedtime on Sunday nights. No spoilers, please! On Mar 4, 2014 3:30 PM, "Ed" <utnatsedj1@xmission.com> wrote:

I just finished it the other day. Its a pretty good read. The science seems fairly realistic. Mark On Tue, Mar 4, 2014 at 8:19 AM, Debbie <astrodeb@beyondbb.com> wrote:
