On page 4 of my Gallery page, I have posted a 5-shot mosaic of the entire gym at Lincoln elementary, showing all the projects set-up for judging at the Granite District Science Fair last Wednesday. This was a quick and dirty digital mosaic and isn't seamless yet (I've got more work to do on it), but it conveys the scale of the event. If you can view the image in a program that allows zooming-in, there is a fair amount of detail, although I did reduce the original mosaic file size. Judging takes 4 hours, by a small army of judges. Then the day is capped-off with an awards ceremony in the school auditorium in the early evening. Lincoln used to be a jr. high, so the facilities are terrific, not typical elementary-school architectural scale. It's a fun, interesting way to spend an afternoon. If Whitney enters again next year, I'll post the date, time and address for anyone else who would like to attend. Very informal atmosphere. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
Many thanks, Guy. Actually, this particular cruise, at this point, the Aegean was so smooth that I did not notice any motion. So I think those with telescopes were able to do OK. I had not brought a tripod because I anticipated pitching and yawing, and thought I would be better off hand-holding my telephoto. But I think a tripod would have worked. Best wishes, Joe PS: Thanks for your kind words, Patrick. That was one of the most strangest experiences of my life.
In answer to Deb's question: I believe I had my camera's chip speed set at ISO 500. My exposures were, for the short one, 1/100 of a second at f/8; for the longer, 1/50 at f/5.3 If anyone is interested, my article about the eclipse, which was in Monday's Deseret Morning News, can be found at: http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,635196537,00.html Thanks, Joe
