I spent an unproductive night at Lakeside last night, with clouds, vicious winds and malfunctioning equipment. However, around 2 a.m. I noticed a distinctly red glow on the northern horizon. I don't think there were any fires there but I don't know. Does anyone know if auroras reached Utah then? Here's a pic I put on Facebook; I would have used the SLAS gallery but it's temporarily down while the club switches servers. You don't have to be on Facebook to see it. Please let me know what you think. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2932404249759&l=c8b8ea7c72 Thanks, Joe
No flares currently, Joe. I wonder if you saw a glow from the fire in Davis county? The sun is dead right now. On Jun 22, 2012 5:48 PM, "Joe Bauman" <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:

I didn't know there was a fire in Davis County, but I think this would be Box Elder County. It seemed to be directly north of Lakeside. I don't do Facebook, can't see your photo. On Jun 22, 2012 5:48 PM, "Joe Bauman" <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:

Chuck, I had the impression from FB that anybody could click on the link and see it, FBer or not. But when the SLAS gallery is up and running I'll post it there. Have you heard of any auroral activity this morning? Talking to my daughter who is an avid FB user, it may depend on the settings you've established with your own account as to who can see what on your page. No auroral activity currently at out latitude. There is virtually no prerequisite solar activity on the earth-facing side of the sun at all, at present. Quiet as a church up there on old Sol.
