Does anyone know what the categories and judging criteria are for the vintage telescope "contest"? Any prizes? Anybody else planning on bringing an old scope?
The weekend weather forecast is still iffy. Weather permitting I am planning on bringing out the 9" Clark. That's a game-time decision. On Tue, Jul 29, 2014 at 7:06 AM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

Good point. I was planning on bringing the Cave, but if the weather is marginal, I will bring the Criterion instead, and/or the C-90. But I'm showing up for the BBQ regardless of clouds. I can eat without stars. On Tue, Jul 29, 2014 at 8:47 AM, Siegfried Jachmann <siegfried@jachmann.org> wrote:

My plan also. I've ordered some ribs so I have to bring family to help devour them. On Tue, Jul 29, 2014 at 8:55 AM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

The Clear Sky Chart for SPOC is showing lousy conditions for tonight, with cloud cover and compromised transparency. If conditions are bad, I won't be bringing the heavy Cave, but something smaller. I plan to eat Dale's magnificent BBQ even if it's raining. I hope that if we don't get much viewing in, the SLAS board would consider trying the Vintage Telescope Star Party again in September or October, when conditions should be better, and it will get dark much earlier. I don't have much for the swap meet tonight, but will try and find a few items. Is anybody looking for anything in particular?
You had one responsibility... the weather and you did a lousy job. This is the last time I let you be in charge of providing good weather for a star-party. Kids! On Sat, Aug 2, 2014 at 11:03 AM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

I told you I didn't want that job! Rodger said we may try it again in September, after the monsoons are over. I went to bed around midnight. Most of the heavy cloud was gone, but there was still a high cirrus that made observing impossible. Kelly and I had a nice time at dinner, for the short while we were there. Had it been clear, our plan was to take 2 cars. I'd load up the scopes in the Explorer and she'd follow me out. But since the sky was terrible, we just came out together. She had to get up at 3:30 Sunday morning so we left after eating. Thanks to Dale for another successfull "pig-out"! On Sun, Aug 3, 2014 at 9:52 AM, Siegfried Jachmann <siegfried@jachmann.org> wrote:
