Hi all. I’ve been away for awhile. Maybe someone can contact me off-list and let me know if anything bad was posted about me during my absence. ;-) As most, if not all of you are aware, the annual Bryce Canyon National Park Astronomy Festival is just a month away (http://www.nps.gov/brca/planyourvisit/astrofest.htm). Kevin Poe, the park’s lead Dark Ranger asked if I would contact this list and see if anyone would like to provide and occupy an exhibit/booth on the topic of meteorites during the days of. I know that there are one or two collectors on this list and perhaps she/he/they would be interested in sharing knowledge and showing off specimens. The park will provide a canopy, tables and chairs and can assist in printing visual aids such as posters and fact sheets. (Please note this is not a vendor booth but is for educational purposes, only.) I am not sure of the schedule but I believe that all of the booths will be open from about 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, perhaps a bit later. For anyone who might be interested, I can obtain more detailed information. Even if someone on the list is inclined to come but can’t be there all four days, we would nevertheless be interested in the help. Please contact me off-list at my park email address (kim_hyatt@nps.gov) if you can help or would like more information. I had been going to the Astrofest since its second year – this is the 13th year – even before joining the park service. It is by far the best of any comparable national park events, and it takes place at one of the darkest parks in the country. To be honest there just isn’t anyone else doing anything similar on this scale. I always look forward to hooking up with old friends at the Astrofest. Friends such as M17, NGC 4565, and even M13. Oh, and I occasionally enjoy seeing some of you. I encourage you all to come even if you don’t bring a telescope. Having a meteorite exhibit would also be a great service for visitors. Thanks!
