12.9 Mag SN in NGC 2655 SN2011B
A Type Ia SN, SN2011B was discovered on 2011/01/07 by Koichi Itagak in NGC 2655. This should be viewable through many scopes and is probably a good target for those doing astro imaging. Here is a link to the image: http://www.rochesterastronomy.org/sn2011/n2655s2.jpg Here is the info: http://www.rochesterastronomy.org/snimages/ I'd love to get out and visually see it but with the moon and the LP from Herriman during the early evening I don't think that will happen. If the weather is good come early next week I think I will try to get north a little and try to get some time in on it. If anyone does image please post.
That's bright! I wonder if it'll be visible around Feb. 4. Thanks, Jay --- On Thu, 1/20/11, Jay Eads <jayleads@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks for the tip Jay. Too cold to try and see it visually so I let the scope and imager sit in the cold and get a picture: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=68&g2_page=6 Cheers, patrick On 20 Jan 2011, at 21:23, Jay Eads wrote:

Nicely done Patrick. Easily seen in your image. I read a report of a visual observation even with the moon up yesterday. Also, Bright Supernova has dropped the magnitude down to 12.8 on this object. If it is clear tonight I am going to set up and give it a try. For fun, here is a YouTube link show an artist's impression of a Type Ia SN. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kTZ9Mp0VVo On Sun, Jan 23, 2011 at 4:45 AM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:
