This one really pushed my setup to the max. It is 3 hours of exposure and could easily use another 6 hours. I had to push the data hard to get the faint stuff out. Has to be one of the most interesting objects in the night sky. Here : http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=3893&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 Cheers, David

The first ones were on the two Ghost images they picked out of course. But some of the kids are actually quite smart and they started to ask what makes up the gas, and how can we see it and stuff. They've been learning to make images in GIMP and want to see if they can come close to this image by creating their own version of it while looking at it. Hope that would be okay with you David. I'll send some of the results . . . maybe. On Mon, Oct 11, 2010 at 6:24 PM, David Rankin <David@rankinstudio.com>wrote:

Yup, Orion. It is on my to-shoot list, but I dont really have a good scope for it. I think the FOV on my Newt is a little to far in, and I dont have a good imaging apo. Next best thing is my telephoto lens, but that may be a bit wider than I want. Going to have to try something though :) Probably going to shoot that one end of December.
