Hi all. I just posted the M1 image from the recent imaging session on the Faulkes Telescope. I put it in my gallery, but many others deserve the real credit. Here is a link to the gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=2851 I also added the image to my website, along with some tidbits about the pulsar and the shockwaves that we recorded in the image. Here is a link to my website: http://71.18.228.62/gpage8.html I appreciated the chance to work with such a great group of people on this project. I hope we get more time soon... really soon! Cheers, Tyler
Tyler, Great image. How did you incorporate the OIII, H-Beta and H-Alpha images. -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Tyler Allred Sent: Monday, January 18, 2010 1:47 AM To: utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Utah-astronomy] M1 Image Posted Hi all. Thanks Don, The H-Beta was too weak and noisy to use. We would have needed a much longer exposure time to make it add anything to the image except noise. I included the OIII and the H-Alpha in the luminance stack. Then, I added the H-Alpha into the red channel at 40% and stacked up the color. Often, the H-Alpha is also added to the blue channel at a lower percentage, but I opted to use it only in the red. I'm not sure what happened to our second H-a image. There is a jpeg on the gallery page, but no fits file. Strange... The guiding was actually pretty bad on these images, which surprised me a bit. Nearly all the images suffered some star elongation, and some frames had elongation in two directions ("L" shaped stars). I picked a frame with pretty good bright stars and used it as an overlay (with some transparency) to correct for the frames that were excessively elongated. I think it turned out OK. I have been too busy to give the data the processing time it deserves. Cheers, Tyler ____________________________________ Hi all.
