Chuck, When we were boy scouts my brother and I subscribed to Boys' Life. I remember a fun story in it about a fictional boy scout troop on Venus going on a back packing trip in the tropical jungle covering much of the planet. They all carried machetes to kill big unfriendly insects such as 3 foot long dragon flies that would try to lay their eggs in the base of your spine! i was very disappointed when we found out life was impossible on Venus. Deloy
Deloy, your post reminded me of something in the back of my brain, that took me a while to recover. Van Vogt's "Null-A" world. Eldred Crang's tree-house on Venus. The Sausage Trees, the jungle. Ah, the good old days of otherworldiness... ;-)
I remember the crocodilian(?) Venusians of Ray Bradbury's "The Long Rain". As I recall, the earthlings who crash-landed on an endlessly rainy planet were constantly in fear of the locals. But I read that about 50 years ago, so my memory could be faulty... As was the case with the Martians, the Venusians just don't want us to know they are there. http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/martian.jpg patrick
Can't blame them for hiding. Look what we did to the Templonians. Sig On Mon, Jan 23, 2012 at 8:37 PM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:
