Suggestion for a future monthly meeting presentation
I have been getting started in the spectroscopy over the last month, but do not have some of the same basic science education as other club members. It would be helpful for me to see a demonstration of the spectral emissions on a student spectrometer. Patrick, I understand that you are part-time employed as a demonstrator at the U and believe that you may have access to the necessary gear - the student spectrometer, reference gas tubes for H,He,Fe and Na, and a high voltage power supply. I am available to work out the details of connecting a Meade DSI-C or webcam to the student spectrometer for projection and viewing on the lecture hall screen. Regards - Kurt
And here Erik was worried about Seth and a laser. lol! On Mon, Jun 16, 2008 at 9:01 PM, Canopus56 <canopus56@yahoo.com> wrote:

Hi Kurt, My apologies for not answering sooner. I just realized that UA list messages have not been getting through to me at my civilian account since early yesterday. They are, however reaching me via my U of U account and that's where I'm going to try and reply from (never tried it before). -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com on behalf of Canopus56 Sent: Mon 6/16/2008 9:01 PM To: Utah Astronomy List Serv Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Suggestion for a future monthly meetingpresentation

Possibly. Most of what I do centers on Newton's Laws and "Fun with liquid nitrogen" so I'm not sure what other fun things might be available. My boss has presented at SLAS before and is very pro-SLAS so chances are if the equipment is available he would be willing to let a SLAS member borrow it for an evening. I'll be seeing him again early next month and will see what he says. Cheers, patrick
