Brent has geography on his side. I've seen it a few times over the course of decades. Anyone ever seen the even rarer blue flash? Or the green flash of Venus? On Feb 15, 2012 11:36 AM, <jcarman6@q.com> wrote:

I remember something like that in High School, When I was playing with matches. Does that count? Mark Mark Shelton Indian Hill Middle School Tech Ed. I've seen hundreds of green flashes, but no blue flashes. There are photos of green flashes, but I have not seen one of the blue flash. I am talking about the blue flash seen as the sun sets. Caused by refraction of the sunlight through the earth's atmosphere. Just wanted to be clear about that. ________________________________ From: Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 3:03 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Green Flash Brent has geography on his side. Exactly what I was responding to and referring to. I'm sure everyone understood, Brent. Have you ever run up-slope quickly to lengthen the green flash? On Wed, Feb 15, 2012 at 4:47 PM, Brent Watson <brentjwatson@yahoo.com>wrote:

I have heard of sitting and then standing to lengthen the flash, but I have never tried it. If I were to try to run up a slope to extend the time I am afraid I would experience gravitational acceleration myself and then exceed my own plastic limit! ________________________________ From: Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 5:10 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Green Flash Exactly what I was responding to and referring to. My Plastic Limit (Visa) is what keeps me from owning my dream refractor.

Once while flying south over the GSL I saw a green flash over a mountain peak in the distance. When the Sun popped out the other side of the peak it green flashed again so I descended such that the flash remained visible for a few seconds as it followed the ridge line until it set for good. patrick
