It seems some of their biggest mistakes were when they tried to copy us.

Come on now... the Russians were not the only ones that made horrible

mistakes in the space programs. What about the Challenger disaster and the Columbia disaster? Both of those were the doing of budget cuts, time constraints, poor management and improper insight. The Russians had nothing to do with these American made disasters. Let's speak in real terms, not nationalistic jargon.
