Wolf Creek star party site
Hello: I am going up to Wolf Creek on Friday night, July 17th for private viewing. I have email blasted those on the Intermountain Astronomy Group (IMAG) email list with information and a map with directions to the site. If you would like to be included in the email list, please let me know at bolide@sisna.com. You don't camp at the Wolf Creek Forest Service campsite itself. At the entrance to the campground there is a dirt road you'll stay on for about 3.5 miles to get to the actual observing site. I can email the map and information to anyone interested. Thank you. Lowell and Kim are right on; the actual Wolf Creek Campsite is not the place to observe from. Great place for a restroom (if the trees don't do the trick ;-) but the horizons are nothing like you'll find on the Ridge...Duchesne Ridge that is. 1.7 miles from the campsite and .8 miles from the T-Junction (see my WolfCreek2 map at http:// homepage.mac.com/dlbennett/PhotoAlbum4.html for the topo) you will find great southern horizons and nights so dark you can see your shadow from the Milky Way. Not bad for an hour and fifteen minutes from Salt Lake (Sugarhouse at least). Dave On Jul 9, 2009, at 5:32 PM, Lowell Lyon wrote:
