My HIGHEST recommendation for: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Excellent movie. Zeppelins, giant killer robots, rocket ships, ornithopters, this flick has it all. Best movie I've seen all year. Wow. Back to astronomy. Or garlic or whatever. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! I agree, whole heartily. Wizard of Oz, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The World that Time Forgot, Star Wars, a late actor from the 30's. Not rip-offs of old movies, but brings up good thoughts of times spent watching them. My knowledge of comic books is limited, but I am sure there are many connections there as well. -A

Thanks Chuck for the recommendation. I was working on the next issue of News when your message came it. Feeling a bit bored (I'm playing bachelor for the next week or so) I decided to go see it. Great flick. Buck Rogers and Star Wars meet Wizard of Oz. Had a ball. Fun story and the whole experience has a great "feel" to it. And talk about a hot airplane, I loved the P-40! Citizen Kane had "Rose bud". Sky Captain has "Lens cap". Patrick Chuck Hards wrote:

I'd enlist in Her Majesty's Royal Navy in about 2 seconds if I could get posted to the Amphibian Squadron! --- Patrick Wiggins <paw@trilobyte.net> wrote: _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Declare Yourself - Register online to vote today! http://vote.yahoo.com
OK, I have to 'fess up: I saw Sky Captian too -- and loved it! This was one of those guilty pleasures. I think what made it so much fun is that you immediately entered into a make-believe world, where the most realistic color was in the movie Wizard of Oz, so just about anything could happen. It was a hoot. -- Joe
What I thought was really interesting about the movie was that there were no sets. Every single scene was filmed in front of a blue screen (or green screen, or whatever). The actors had props to work with, of course. Chuck Hards wrote:
