The morning after
One of the benefits of having a double-wide, 100-foot-long driveway is that I get to get up before daylight and shovel it after an all-night snowstorm. This morning the clouds were clearing out quickly and the stars were just like diamonds sparkling in the sky. There's something ethereal about a starry sky above a snow-covered landscape (or cityscape, for that matter). I had 5" of snow in mid-valley, and really enjoyed my morning workout, with the stars to keep me company in the crisp, clear air. One of life's little pleasures. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Yahoo! Here's my little story: huffing, puffing, wondering how many more winters I can do this, trotting from one side of the driveway to the other carrying a heavy shovel-full, quick shower, driving to work in stop-and-go traffic, cancelling an appointment in which the dentist wanted to check the socket of my just-extracted tooth, because I can't fight any more traffic on slick roads .... If it never snowed again I'd be overjoyed. jb

I take it that you didn't notice the stars, then? Three words of advice: Neighbor kid, telecommuting. Hang in there, Joe! --- Joe Bauman <bau@desnews.com> wrote:
