Hi, I'm working on posting Nova as a PDF as well as the html version I announced in today's News. I'd very much appreciate it if some of y'all could have a look at my latest attempt, http://utahastro.info/temp/NOVAMJ2006.PDF , and let me know if it opens ok, is legible and if the pictures look ok. I'd also appreciate hearing opinions as to which version (http://utahastro.info/temp/NOVAMJ2006.PDF and http://utahastro.info/temp/NOVAMJ2006.HTML ) y'all prefer. Many thanks, Patrick
Patrick, The only thing that needs a little more work is the picture. I suspect that pictures need a highter resolution than currently being used. The rest is great. Your efforts are appreciated. Ed L --- Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote:

Hi, I agree. A higher quality picture would be nice but that comes at the cost of larger file sizes and longer downloads. I guess once everyone has high speed internet file sizes will no longer be a concern. But then if you think the on line pictures are not great, you really don't want to see the images that end up in the paper copy version. They are awful! Thanks for the input. Patrick
Partick, Did you say that you included the web address where interested parties could go to see all the pictures of the signing? -A On 4/29/06, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote:

Sure did, at least on the html version: http://utahastro.info/temp/NOVAMJ2006.HTML It's waaay too long to try to include in the PDF and paper versions. BTW, regarding the on-line vs. paper version discussion we had, I just ran a tally and found that of those with email 52 have chosen paper while 117 have gone with reading Nova on-line. Cheers! Patrick
Well, you took the PDF version down it seems, and I don't recall what size it was when I first looked at it, but I have a program that can convert the HTML version to a 52k printing quality PDF. A standard quality PDF would be even smaller. --- Patrick Wiggins wrote:

Looks good. I would certainly be happy to give up a few more seconds of download time for higher-res photos, but it's probably tough enough when you're using a modem connection. By the way, although the html version looks fine, I prefer PDF. It's easier to download and archive. MC P.S. About the photo. All of those people standing behind Huntsman and nobody thought to do rabbit ears? On Apr 29, 2006, at 4:32 AM, Patrick Wiggins wrote:

As it turns out I've been toying with the idea of posting both versions. Perhaps I'll try that for a while and see what folks think. Patrick

Just for kicks, I had a look at the list of the other groups he met with that day: Arson Awareness Jazz Appreciation Law Day Mental Health Counseling Mentor Awareness Mormon Tabernacle Choir Neurofibromatosis Awareness Patient Advocate Playground Safety World T'ai Chi and Qigong The Leonardo Let's see, we could probably use some of the playground safety (at SPOC) and mental health counseling (everywhere). :)
Patrick, No problem with either downloading although the Html was much faster!! PDF takes forever for us poor modemites. Either way Nova online is the way to go for me. Thanks for the effort Howard --- Michael Carnes <MichaelCarnes@earthlink.net> wrote:

Alas, PDF downloads would take even longer if I used the highest quality images.
Either way Nova online is the way to go for me.
You are not alone. All but two of the replies I've received on the subject have asked to be switched to the on line option. Then again I'm not terribly surprised. The on-line version looks much nicer (especially the pictures) and contains links and features that just can't be included in the paper copies. And I rather like that the on line version can be easily updated and/or corrected when necessary. Can't do that with paper. Thanks for the input. Patrick :)
